Taste the Winning Cocktail from the Battle of the Bartenders Competition

On April 26th, we had our ‘Battle of the Bartenders’ competition. During this event, bartenders from both Copper Canyon Grill and Stanford Grill locations created unique cocktails using Old Forrester Bourbon.

Old Forrester Bourbon was created in 1870, and it is the only bourbon continually distilled and marketed by the founding family before, during, and after Prohibition. It has a sharp and sweet nose with a strong floral character that swirls with hints of mint, rich tobacco, vanilla, plus a touch of oak and pine. The taste is sharp at first but quickly softens to reveal hints of oak, sweet corn, and rye. You can also taste spicy notes with soft vanilla and orange.

The winner of the night was Copper Canyon Grill Orlando! Bartender Andrea Cannon created the winning Strawberry Julep cocktail. It was Rocky Rojas who came to the competition to represent the Orlando unit. Coming right behind Orlando, in second place, is Copper Canyon Grill Silver Spring with their Cold Brewed Tini. This caffeinated concoction was imagined by Bartender Vanessa Nolan. Stop by the location nearest you to taste these winning cocktails!

Breakthru beverage sponsored the event and the plaque was donated by Old Forrester Bourbon. We’d like to thank our staff for participating in the competition and to everyone who submitted a recipe. This is a very festive weekend with Cinco de Mayo today and the Kentucky Derby happening tomorrow. We think this is the perfect excuse to grab someone and pay us a visit for a cocktail or two. No matter if you want to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with some tequila, or the Kentucky Derby with some Bourbon, our locations in Silver Spring and Rockville have great cocktails and happy hour specials to take advantage of this weekend. In Silver Spring? Come seat at the bar or at one of our cocktail tables from 4-7 pm and celebrate the Kentucky Derby with an order of Coca-Cola Ribs and an Uptown Old Fashioned. Prefer some Cinco de Mayo fun? Try the Steak Tacos with our Elite Margarita.

Are you closer to our Rockville restaurant? Pay us a visit at the bar from 3-7 pm for some drinks and bites.
