It’s Labor Day weekend and we know you’ll want to spend it enjoying the extra time off with a good meal and a refreshing drink. A favorite of many in the summer is a cold beer. This is why we recruited one of our knowledgeable managers, Jeff Lavine, to share with us the best beers to pair with what dishes per location. Check what he recommends out!
Stanford Grill – Rockville & Stanford Kitchen in Owings Mills
Feed the Monkey German-style Hefeweizen – Jailbreak Brewing Company – Laurel, MD
A German-style hefeweizen that combines traditional notes of clove and banana with subtle citrus aromas and flavors provides balance and complexity. This hefeweizen is a perfect pair to our Coconut Rainbow Roll at our Standford Grill in Rockville, MD. The combination of tropical flavors of banana, coconut, and clove go are the perfect start of any meal.
If you happen to be in the area of our newest restaurant, Stanford Kitchen, located in Owings Mills, MD you MUST pair this draft with our Maryland Style Blue Crab salad. Fresh ruby red grapefruit, sweet blue crab, and avocado will make the subtle citrus flavors of this German-style hefeweizen pop. And for those of you looking for a vegetarian option, the chopped vegetable salad at Stanford Kitchen takes this pairing to a whole new level. Creamy avocado, sweet corn, roasted beets, asparagus and roasted cashews round out a powerhouse of flavor combinations that will leave you truly satisfied.
Copper Canyon Grill – Silver Springs
Big Punisher Double IPA – Jailbreak Brewing Company – Laurel, MD
This rewardingly “Punishing” Double IPA is a local go-to beer full of tropical fruit aromas and a wonderful copper orange color. This craft beer pairs perfectly with our signature slow-roasted St. Louis Ribs. The light spice and sweet tanginess of the Texas style BBQ sauce are truly complemented by the malty, sweet caramel tasting Double IPA with tropical fruit aromas.
Copper Canyon Grill – Glenarden
Wye Rye – Calvert Brewing Company – Upper Marlboro, MD
We’re pairing the centerpiece of the table, our slow-roasted Rotisserie Chicken with the ever elegant and oh-so-drinkable Wye Rye. Roasted meats always seem to pair well with this smooth, malty beer, and we especially like this pairing because our rotisserie chicken is so unpretentious and simple. We wouldn’t want a beer to overpower its subtle goodness. Plus, with it’s peppery Rye finish, this beer is perfect for elevating the simple mix of spices that make our rotisserie chicken so wonderful.
Copper Canyon Grill – Orlando
Night Swim Porter – Coppertail Brewing Company – Tampa, FL
This beer was made to pair with rich smoked foods which makes it a perfect combination for our Veggie Burger. This rich blend of vegetables and brown rice soaks up all the flavor of our wood-burning grill. You will first notice the sweet chocolate and roasted malt aromas of this porter. The light hints of molasses from our veggie burger are a perfect complement to the rich blend of sweet and roasted flavors of this medium-full bodied porter. The creamy and slightly spicy pepper jack cheese accentuates the sweet and roasted characteristics of the Night Swim Porter.
Who says beer can’t be enjoyed with dessert?!!!!
Stanford Grill – Colombia & Copper Canyon Grill – Gaithersburg
Allagash White – Allagash Brewing – Portland, ME
This Belgian-style wheat beer is brewed with oats, malted wheat, and unmalted raw wheat for a hazy appearance. Then, it is spiced with a special blend of coriander and Curaçao orange peel. White upholds the Belgian tradition of beers that are both complex and refreshing. This flavor profile pairs perfectly with our house made Key Lime Pie. The sweet, creamy tartness is surprisingly satisfying with the toasted malt, coriander and Curaçao orange zest notes of the Allagash White. A perfect pairing for an al fresco dining experience on either restaurant’s patio.
