The holidays are right around the corner. Are you thinking about everything you have to do to get ready for it? Last minute home makeovers, the menu planning, the shopping, the cooking. Whew! All in the name of bringing family and friends together to celebrate gratitude…and eat some great food. Ever considered NOT doing all the cooking yourself? No guilt here; you’re not the only one.
Here’s a tip for you: COPPER CANYON GRILL! Its holiday menu has just been unveiled and it’s super-delicious! You can enjoy your holiday meal at the restaurant or order holiday menu items for pickup! (Shhhh! I won’t tell anyone). Rotisserie turkey (sooo juicy) and gravy, mashed potatoes, bacon mac ‘n cheese (OMG!!), maple-glazed carrots, sautéed green beans, cornbread stuffing, hot rolls…and the ‘piece de resistance’, pumpkin cheesecake! The restaurant’s chef takes great pride in offering this menu from his grandmother’s recipes. A culinary cornucopia of sumptuous delight. Why should others get all the good stuff? Here’s your chance to get some, too!
Copper Canyon Grill’s Silver Spring location will be open for your dining pleasure on Thanksgiving Day 11am-9pm; plus, the holiday menu items are available for pickup (2-day advance orders, please) now through January 1, 2016. Why cook when someone else can do the cooking for you?? Bring Copper Canyon Grill HOME FOR THE HOLIDAYS! Happy Holidays, everyone!

How to Spend Quality Time Together on Father’s Day

Father’s Day is actually quite different than Mother’s Day. From the gifts you give to the places you eat to the activities of the day, everything is just a little bit different–perhaps even a little more casual.

That’s why we offer dad’s favorites for takeout on Father’s Day; so you can take it and go wherever you’d like together! Here are a few ideas to spend quality time with  your dad on Father’s Day:

  • Take a trip down memory lane: After dinner, ask Dad to show you some of his old photos and mementos. Chances are you’ll learn something new about your father, and he’ll have a great time remembering times gone by.
  • Get your blood pumping: We hope the weather will hold out so that we can enjoy some time outside! From a walk in the park to a game of basketball to a kayak trip down the river, there’s no better bonding experience than outdoor activities together.
  • Learn something new: Maybe you search YouTube for a tutorial on building a picnic table. Maybe you sign up for  a foreign language class together. Or maybe you just learn how to make your family’s new favorite cocktail – no matter what it is, learn it together and you’ll never forget it!
  • Stick to the classics: Go mini-golfing. Let him take an afternoon nap. Buy him a tie. Hang out on the deck. Whatever you do, let him know how much you appreciate him!

Make sure Dad knows how much you love him by treating him to food to-go from Stanford Grill or Copper Canyon Grill, and the rest of the day will be amazing!

3 Simple Halloween Party Food Alternatives for Kids

We love celebrating Halloween here at Copper Canyon Grill and Stanford Grill! Seeing everyone all dressed up as their favorite character puts a smile on our faces. We don’t like, however, all of the unhealthy Trick-or-Treaters’ candy that comes with the season. With it being the night before Halloween, we have assembled a quick list of three simple Halloween party substitutes for kids!

Screen Shot 2014-10-30 at 2.20.33 PM

  1. Creepy-Crawly Caterpillars (pictured above): Thread green grapes onto a long wooden skewer until it’s completely covered. Add mini chocolate chips to each grape on the very end for eyes (use a little frosting or cream cheese for glue).
  2. Spider Sandwiches: Use a biscuit cutter to cut bread into 4 inch rounds. Spread with the usual favorite fillings like PB&J. Add four pretzel sticks to each side for legs, then put the sandwich top on. Use peanut butter for glue as you add two raisins for eyes.
  3. Pumpkin Pudding Cups: Cut the tops off tangerines and hollow them out. Fill with pudding and use a permanent marker to make a goofy jack-o’-lantern grin on each one.

These 3 quick-and-easy Halloween snacking alternatives are sure to bring tons of fun to a party, classroom or family table in just minutes. Have a happy, healthy, and safe Halloween from everyone here at Copper Canyon and Stanford Grill!

Fourth of July Fun

Still sorting out Fourth of July plans? Well, luckily for you, the Washington, D.C. area is arguably the most patriotic place in America to celebrate Independence Day! From amazing musical performances to spectacular fireworks, there’s more than enough fun to fill the day. Here are three events that we are most looking forward to!

If you’re looking for the quintessential Fourth of July experience, be sure to check out America’s National Independence Day Parade at 11:45 a.m. on Constitution Avenue and 7th Street NW. This parade features marching bands from all over the country, patriotic floats, and military and special units. Plan to arrive early to stake out a good viewing spot, as the parade draws a large crowd!

What would the Fourth of July be without some live music? A Fourth of July tradition in the nation’s capital, the Capitol Fourth Concert features the National Symphony Orchestra and several pop artists performing patriotic music on the West Lawn of the U.S. Capitol Building.  Again, get there early because the place fills up fast! Gates for the concert open at 3 p.m.

Finally, there’s no Fourth of July without some breathtaking fireworks to conclude the day! In order to satisfy your fireworks fix, head over to the National Mall for DC’s Fireworks Spectacular on the National Mall. At dark, fireworks are launched from the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and light up the sky over the Washington Monument. If you’re looking for a unique view of the fireworks, try a boat cruise or book a hotel with a rooftop view!

From all of us here at Copper Canyon Grill and Stanford Grill, have a fun and safe Fourth of July!

Holiday Tablescape

If you’re stuck on ideas of how to elegantly decorate your table this holiday season, we have a couple ideas to wow your guests.

Seeing the incorporation natural elements in a tablescape is always lovely. We suggest using foliage of the season like pine leaves, mistletoe, pine cones, or even cranberries! Use your imagination, but a run of pine tree branches up and down the table, with a sprinkling of cranberries for a pop of color is very festive.

That’s where another idea comes into play: use the colors of the season as well. Plenty of red, green, gold, and silver. These can be incorporated most easily with the linens. The look of elegant gold napkins at each table setting is always eye-catching.

Hopefully these few quick tips will come in handy and spark more table decor ideas! Be sure to share with us your favorite holiday decorating ideas.

Happy Holidays!
