Cocktails

Let’s talk about cocktails.

We love craft beer and have fallen in love with the reds and whites on our extensive wine list, but there is just something about a vibrant cocktail on a warm summer evening that we just can’t get enough of. A cocktail during happy hour or before dinner is the perfect way to leave the cares of the workday behind and transition into fun and relaxation!

Our Peartini is definitely a crowd favorite, where the vibrant taste of Grey Goose La Poire is deliciously balanced with subtly sweet, crisp flavors. The Elite Margarita, made with Cointreau, Grand Marnier, Milagro Tequila, and fresh Agave nectar, is a classic, too. Feeling a little adventurous? Sip our Fleur De Lis, a beautiful balance of Chopin Vodka and St. Germain Elderflower Liqueur, which brings out the fresh flavors of tropical fruit; perfect for the summer evenings that aren’t quite over yet.

Whether you go for a classic or look for a new favorite, our bartenders will help you find the perfect cocktail for whatever the day has thrown at you. Drop your bags, grab a friend, and relax with us.

Kale Chicken Caesar Salad, and more facts about this trendy superfood

Chicken Kale Salad Feature

As spring and summer approach, we all aspire to eat a little healthier. But why sacrifice flavor in your search for nutrition? This week at Glenarden & Gaithersburg, we are featuring a Kale Chicken Caesar Salad that offers sustenance AND taste! Chopped kale is tossed in our creamy housemade caesar dressing, fresh French bread croutons, grated parmesan cheese and topped with a chicken breast that has been pounded out thin, dredged in panko, and pan-seared to golden brown perfection. With fresh ingredients that your body naturally craves, this kale salad is sure to please!

We all know that kale is the health-food fad of the day, but what else do we know about this dark green leafy vegetable? Here are a few facts about the ever-popular kale:

  • One serving of kale has more calcium than a small carton of milk and, gram for gram, more than twice the the amount of Vitamin C as an orange.
  • Kale was popular in Europe during Roman times and the Middle Ages, not arriving in the US until the 17th century.
  • The same nutrient that gives kale its trademark color, lutein, promotes healthy eyes and vision.
  • When grown in cold weather, kale grows a higher sugar content, making it taste better.

We’re pretty sure kale is here to stay, especially after eating this delicious salad! What do you think?

Chicken Parmesan (2)

This week at Stanford Grill, we are featuring the deliciously cheesy Chicken Parmesan dish we talked about last week on the blog. So, Columbia, it’s your turn to try this Italian specialty!

A Trip Down Memory Lane with Chef Michael: This Week’s Features

Housemade Meatballs with Garlic Bread

This week at Gaithersburg, Chef Michael is recreating a childhood memory. We all have a dish that goes hand-in-hand with our childhood; one that we remember waiting for every week. Maybe that was your grandma’s cinnamon rolls, or your dad’s chili, or your aunt’s peach cobbler. For Chef Michael, it was Sundays when his mom prepared “the Best Meatballs in the World,” which he has recreated for you in this week’s special at Gaithersburg! Try his Housemade Meatballs with Garlic Bread this week, available until Sunday, and you just might be reminded of the dishes you loved as a child, too.

“As kids we were so excited for Sunday mornings. We knew Mom was in the kitchen all day cooking a special treat for the whole family. We waited all week in anticipation for the best meatballs in the world. We would gather around the dinner table with a large bowl of meatballs in tomato sauce and of course, it had to be accompanied by garlic bread. She used such great ingredients like Italian Sausage, Ground Turkey, Pecorino Romano and Extra Virgin Olive Oil which all complemented each other beautifully. I wanted to share this special family recipe with my extended Copper Canyon Grill family for everyone to enjoy. We are featuring this dish at Gaithersburg all week so come on in and join us.”

With housemade steak sauce, perfectly cut meat, and potatoes set off with heavenly parmesan cheese and heavy cream, this is comfort food at its finest. Available at Stanford Grill until Sunday only!

3 Simple Halloween Party Food Alternatives for Kids

We love celebrating Halloween here at Copper Canyon Grill and Stanford Grill! Seeing everyone all dressed up as their favorite character puts a smile on our faces. We don’t like, however, all of the unhealthy Trick-or-Treaters’ candy that comes with the season. With it being the night before Halloween, we have assembled a quick list of three simple Halloween party substitutes for kids!

Screen Shot 2014-10-30 at 2.20.33 PM

  1. Creepy-Crawly Caterpillars (pictured above): Thread green grapes onto a long wooden skewer until it’s completely covered. Add mini chocolate chips to each grape on the very end for eyes (use a little frosting or cream cheese for glue).
  2. Spider Sandwiches: Use a biscuit cutter to cut bread into 4 inch rounds. Spread with the usual favorite fillings like PB&J. Add four pretzel sticks to each side for legs, then put the sandwich top on. Use peanut butter for glue as you add two raisins for eyes.
  3. Pumpkin Pudding Cups: Cut the tops off tangerines and hollow them out. Fill with pudding and use a permanent marker to make a goofy jack-o’-lantern grin on each one.

These 3 quick-and-easy Halloween snacking alternatives are sure to bring tons of fun to a party, classroom or family table in just minutes. Have a happy, healthy, and safe Halloween from everyone here at Copper Canyon and Stanford Grill!
